“The message of never giving up despite horrendous odds against being able to live a normal life is the compelling survival story of Kimberly Shirk.   Sharing what she experienced in facing a future of incredible pain and uncertainty following an electrical accident, her story of surviving and thriving is truly inspirational.”

“Through my years as an educator, I have heard numerous speakers at assemblies or conferences share their story or a challenge to motivate those in attendance. I wanted you to know that I was very impressed with multiple aspects of your presentation. Your ability to pull the students in through your questioning, your personal vulnerability in telling your story and even backing it up with pictures, and challenging them to make personal application of your story to their own lives. Your closure where you asked them to think about their own circumstances and life events that have shaped who they are, to look for the silver linings and set personal goals and dreams was powerful.”

“Kim’s book is amazing, inspiring, engaging at the heart level because that’s just what Kimberly Arms Shirk is, so of course it shines through in her memoir.”

“No journalist goes to work thinking there’s a possibility that they’ll be electrocuted, but that’s exactly what happened to my dear friend and colleague Kimberly Arms Shirk in 1997 when she worked as a TV reporter. She sketches her fight for life and the ensuing courtroom drama in this stunningly beautiful new memoir.”

I’ve known Kimberly since shortly after her incident. I am an author and safety information specialist in the TV business, who she gave the privilege of her inner circle information to. From day one she has been candid, genuine, and never a complainer, despite numerous reasons she has a reason to be. She has endured tremendous pain and suffering and has had unlimited support from family, friends, and colleagues. What was her answer to all of it? To live wonderfully, bear and raise inspirational children, and give to others, where I think this book roots. I applaud her effort to bring pictures of what life is like after the accident as we hardly ever see or understand life after tragedy. This book helps us see it and inspires us to see the Silver Lining where many may not think it exists. Thank you Kimberly. You may never know how many people are behind you from the depths of their heart, nor will we ever truly know how deep you hold so many people in yours.

“Kimberly came to speak at our school to our fourth grade students.  Her presentation was so inspiring for all the students and staff. She kept it real for kids and very age appropriate.  The students were highly engaged with her story, and so interested in how she persevered by looking for the silver lining in things she had to overcome.  She gave the kids wonderful ideas on how write their own stories.  One of our favorite quotes she told the kids was; “Each day is a new page in your story.”
